Jon Hamm Makes Robot Noises on ‘The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret’ (VIDEO)

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

Filed under: TV Previews If the ‘Mad Men’ extended hiatus has had one upside, it’s that it’s allowed Jon Hamm the freedom to do a bunch of guest-spots in other shows and movies, particularly ones that showcase his comedic chops. There was his epically weird sex-scene with Kristen Wiig in ‘Bridesmaids,’ his ‘SNL’ hosting gig, and now a guest-spot on the David Cross-starring IFC comedy ‘The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret.’ In this promo clip released by IFC in advance of the show’s Season 2 premiere (Fri., Jan. 6 at 10:30PM ET on IFC), Hamm, who plays the butler to Todd’s British boss Dave, makes a series of “dumb robot” noises as part of a scheme to confuse Will Arnett’s character Brent Wilts.

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

Filed under: Features , Celebrities and Gossip She isn’t just a pretty ‘voice,’ but also one talented songwriter! Dia Frampton , who rose to fame as the runner-up on the inaugural season of NBC’s ‘The Voice,’ has a catchy new, Kid Cudi-assisted single out called ‘Don’t Kick the Chair.’ The Utah native puts the tune’s poignant lyrics in the spotlight for its brand-new video. “I wrote this song with Busbee and Julie Frost,” Dia, who was on country megastar Blake Shelton’s ‘Voice’ team , told AOL Music . “It started with my lyrical idea, ‘Don’t Kick the Chair,’ since my sisters and I throw that phrase around at home when we’re complaining about something when, on the other hand, it’s a beautiful day outside.

The Guide to Wednesday TV: Two New Comedies to Hate, the Whitechapel Finale

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

Comedy is very hot this TV season — thank ABC’s best-of-class Wednesday comedies (all in repeats tonight), CBS’ Monday blockbusters, NBC’s cult faves and Fox’s giddy New Girl — but two lousy new sitcom arrivals buck the trend, leaving a sour aftertaste. Normally I’d celebrate at any circumstance that shrinks The X Factor to 90 minutes, but in this case, it opens the door for Fox’s unpleasant I Hate My Teenage Daughter (9:30/8:30c), which traps two gifted comedians — My Name Is Earl ’s Emmy-winning spitfire Jaime Pressly and two-time Tony-winning scene-stealer Katie Finneran — in no-win roles as shrill moms who used to be ugly ducklings and are now cowed by their bratty offspring (forgettably rendered by Aisha Dee and Kristi Lauren ), who are turning out to be the sort of spoiled mean girls who tormented the moms back when they were in high school.
